COVID-19 Contingency Response

The health, safety, and well-being of our volunteers, guests, and staff is of top priority. Our Daily Bread exists to feed our hungry neighbors. It is in disasters like this that our under-served neighbors are exposed to greater vulnerability—whether it is access to food, health care, childcare, sick leave, etc. The balance of keeping our volunteers, guests, and staff healthy and at the same time providing food to our neighbors who are left even more at risk of hunger due to the crisis at hand is not one that we take lightly.

As of March 31, 2020, pre-packed boxes of food will be handed out in a drive-thru approach, which will unfortunately remove the guest-choice aspect of our normal operations. Normal shopping sessions will temporarily stop, and boxes will be the sole way of food distribution until the risk of infection has passed. Guests will be asked to stay in their cars, while volunteers load the food into the vehicles. If you do not have a vehicle, you can walk up to get groceries.

In order to still serve our guests and limit spread of the virus, our hours of distribution will be as follows:

Tuesday: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Thursday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Every 3rd Sat. of the Month: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

If you need groceries, please bring:

  • An ID

  • Proof of Residence in Payne County (if different than what's on your ID)

If you are shopping on someone's behalf, please bring:

  • An ID for the person you are shopping for.

All decisions regarding our response to the pandemic will be made by ODB leadership doing our best to look out for the safety of our entire community. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this incredibly difficult time. Please follow our Facebook page @OurDailyBreadStillwater for updates.

Welcome, Guests!

What to expect:

We have intake volunteers trained to walk you through intake before we send you to the shopping floor. Next, we'll call you by name to shop with a shopping assistant, who will help fill your cart!

We're so excited to be able to send you home with groceries!

Guest-choice means that our guests can choose what they feed their families, just like they would at a regular grocery store. Clients only take what they like, want, and can use. We do this  to create an environment of dignity and respect for those who use our services.

Click the icon above to find out the income eligibility requirements for the state of Oklahoma. These are updated annually in July.

All guests of ODB must reside in Payne County and have proof of residence with them on their first visit.

Guests may shop once every 30 days for their household. We consider a household as all those that share a kitchen space. If you need immediate assistance, you may receive an emergency food bag.

On the first visit:

  • Bring any government issued ID for yourself

  • ID for all household members

  • Proof of residence in Payne County

For all following visits,  the person shopping for your household will need to bring an ID, proof of Payne Co. residence if it changes, and IDs for household members if additional people are added.

Closing Disclaimer:

We lock the doors right at the half hour mark listed above. Guests that arrive after that time will not be able to shop until the next session.

We have items from every food group. Depending on your household size, you will be able to choose a number of items of each section. We have sweets, cereal, canned vegetables, canned beans, canned protein, soup, flex, household products, canned fruit, pasta/rice, crackers, beverages, bread, produce, and other items like milk, eggs, and meat from the cooler and freezer.

Every time you come to shop, you will go through intake with a trained volunteer. This just insures we have accurate information and can assist you as much as possible. Then you may sit in our waiting area until it's your turn to shop. You'll be called by name at that time and another trained volunteer will help you shop.

If you have any questions at all, please reach out. Someone will answer, call, or email you back if we are unav.

General Session Info

  • The shopping hours listed above are the only hours we will be able to help guests with grocery assistance.

  • It generally takes about 25 minutes to get through the shopping floor after intake.

  • We lock the doors right at the half-hour mark listed. Guests that arrive after that time will not be able to shop until the next session. Everyone who is in the door before we lock up will be able to shop.

  • We restock our floor every day and during the session. We will not run out of food!

  • The last week of the month is our busiest. Waiting time increases as the month progresses. During the last week, we expect about a 45-minute wait time for everyone.

  • If you need immediate food assistance - the doors were locked or it's not yet your shopping day - you may receive an emergency food bag. If we do not answer the door, please call us.

  • Beginning July 1st of every year, each household must fill out a new TEFAP form, regardless of the number of times assistance has been received prior. Every new household must fill out the form on their first visit.

  • We do not provide transportation to and from the premises.

Weather Disclaimer

If you choose to arrive before we are scheduled to open, please be aware that we are unable to unlock the door until the listed times. Our wait times inside the building average 30 minutes to 1 hour from start to finish, so we encourage families NOT to line up outside the building - especially on really hot or cold days (for your own safety) - but to show up when the door is unlocked and wait inside in our temperature controlled waiting room. There is no benefit to waiting outside our building prior to opening. We never run out of food and always restock during shopping hours for plenty of food choices. We have a water fountain that you're welcome to use anytime in the building.

Note that we will close when the public schools close for inclement weather. If a session falls outside of the school day, staff will make a decision as necessary to protect the safety of our guests and volunteers. If you are unsure if we will be open, please call us or check our Face Book page.
